About chef Floris van Straalen

Floris van Straalen was only 15 years old when he started a part time job as a dish washer. It was the start of the culinary path he choose to walk on: from working voluntarily in Michelin-star restaurant Linnen, to working at renowned restaurants like Oud Sluis, Pure C and Vinkeles. The last 6 years he developed his cooking style at Envy. Nowadays he lets his creativity run free at VanOost Restaurant.

 

The world has always been a playground and learning school to Floris. With great mentors (such as Sergio Hermans and Dennis Kuipers) he mastered the art of cooking and learned about entrepreneurship. Today the world around him remains a source of inspiration.

 

He starts with a story and then translates his vision into new dishes. With an urge to do everything slightly different, he creates a culinary experience that goes beyond the dish and is unique in its kind.
